INTRODUCTION

Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) is a non-governmental, non-political, socio-cultural, service-cum-sanskar oriented, secular and voluntary organization. it was established in 1963 with the sole objective of DEVELOPMENT AND GROWTH OF OUR BELOVED NATION - BHARAT - IN ALL FIELDS OF HUMAN ENDEAVOUR - cultural, social, acadenic,moral and spirtual -by promoting a sense of true patriotism, national unity and integrity. The action plan of BVP is executed through five sutras- Sampark (Fellowship), Sahyog (Co-operation), Sanskar (Moral orientation), Sewa(Service) and Samarpan (Commitment). At present, BVP has approximately 1,400 branches all over India and 12 branches in foreign countries with a family membership almost 44,000 families. BVP's main aim is to oraganize and motivate the elite and intellectual citizens to serve the poor,disabled,illiterate and ignorant brethren with true spirit of serviceas a duty and not as an act of charity

To accomplish Sewa sutra, Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust Pubjab generally called as Trust was formed by BVP members of Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir states in 1996. The main objective of the Trust is to channelize the funds donated by the philanthropic persons of the society for the treatment and up-liftment of viklangs.To fulfillthis objective, the Trust has established a Viklang Sahayata, Swarojgaar and Punarvas Kender in Ludhiana, Punjab. This institute is being run by the whole hearted support and co-operation of BVP's 153 branches in Punjab and 17 branches in Jammu & Kashmir. Severl persons and organizations extended their support in raising building and other infrastructure of the Kender(Centre) including S.Parkash Singh Badal(Chief Minister of Punjab),Mrs Menka Gandhi(The then Union Minister) and Late Shri Lala Lajpat Rai (The then Member of Rajya Sabha).

Presently the Trust/Institute is housed in magnificent building comprising a Viklang Sahayata centre, polio corrective surgery hospital equipped with modern equipments and instruments. This institute is now well recognized through out the country

TRUST RECOGNITION THROUGH AWARDS

National Award = 2004 for the welfare of Viklang, presented by The president of India, Sh. A.P.J Abdul Kalam.
FICCI Award-2007 for the welfare of Viklang, given by The Prime Minister of India, S. Manmohan Singh.
 State Award-2008 for the welfare of Viklang, presented by tge State Minister for Social Security and Women & Child Development, Govt.of Punjab.
BVP National Award - 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007 & 2008 presented by the Bharat Vikas Parishad National Executive, New delhi, India.
Award of Excellence Presented By Sh. Surjit Kumar Jaiyani Hon’ble Minister for Health & Social Security, Punjab on International Red Cross Day.
State Award-2015-16 for exellent work for welfare of handicapped, presented by Sh. Surjit Kumar Jaiyani Minister for Health & Social Security for women & child Development, Punjab in 03-12-2015.

EFFORTS

The Institute is fully equipped with modern machinery and has got expertise to manufacture and fix calipers, (artificial working hands). The Centre has developed on its own certain attachments with artificial hands, which enable the beneficiary to lift heavy materials, work in a workshop or agricultural field and to carry a bucket etc. These Limbs have been modified to suit the local conditions.

Artificial limbs produced by the institute. are good enough to imitate natural ones,(cosmetically and functionally) which permit almost normal sitting, squatting, walking, running,climbing,swimming,driving,cycling,etc.

REHABILITATION

to translate efforts of the Trust into desired goal of Punarvas, several projects and vocational training programmes are there to provide skill and expertise to Viklang. These programmes help them for self-employment and rehabilitation. Trust also provides earning opportunities to the Viklang through the following schemes :

  1. Training in computer applications.
  2. Training in repair of electronic gadgets like television and motor winding, etc.
  3. Training in tailoring, stitching and embroidery.
  4. Training in preparing chalks, dusters, candles, envelops, etc. and to provide sale channels for these items.
  5. Training in preparing leather/rubber attachments and cotton stocknit used in the manufacturing of artificial limbs.
  6. Providing employment to trained viklang in the Trust and facilitating jobs in other organizations.
  7. Training for plantation in nursery, preparing clay & plaster of paris models and canning of chairs,etc.

  • To establish an Eye Hospital fully equipped with modern infrastructure, State of the art machinery and expert doctors, providing both outdoor and indoor treatment facilities.
  • Replace Electricity with solar energy in order to save money and to be eco-friendly.
