Initially, the task of Viklang Sahayta was undertaken by Bharat Vikas Parishad (BVP) Ludhiana, in the year 1991 with the inspiration of Sh. P.L.Rahi Ji and Dr. Kamal Jyoti. First Viklang Sahayta Camp, wherein measurement for artificial limbs of 140 physically challenged persons was taken in a private house in Tagore Nagar, Ludhiana. Subsequently these limbs were fitted free of cost in a camp held after one month at Bhuriwala Mandir in Ludhiana. BVP Ludhiana continued holding camps in that form every year till 1994, when Dr. Kewal Krishan, the then Finance Minister, Punjab was invited as Chief Guest in one of such functions. He was so impressed and moved by the Sewa Bhav and the need of such project, that he announced a handsome grant.

Later, Late Sh. Pyare Lal Rahi, the then All India National Secretary General of Bharat Vikas Parishad, a great philanthropist, and a close friend of Sh. Inder Mohan Singh Grewal, persuaded Sh. Grewal, who agreed and allowed BVP Ludhiana to run Viklang Sahayta Kendar in the premises of Gurudev Hospital near Aggar Nagar, Ludhiana. After the overwhelming response from the society, a Trust was formed by the then Ludhiana Branch of Bharat Vikas Parishad in November, 1996 and Dr. Lajpat Rai had the honour to be the founder President. It was at that time when Viklang Sahayta Kendar was inaugurated by Hon’ble Sh. Jagmohan Ji, former Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, and in its infancy, functioned till 1998 at Gurudev Hospital on temprory basis.

In 1999, owing to the good work of Bharat Vikas Parishad as seen in a Viklang Sahayta Camp organised by Amritsar Branch of BVP, a piece of land was allotted to the Trust by the then Chief Minister, Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal. The foundation stone of the building was laid by Sh. Balram Ji Das Tandon. Initially building with six rooms, along with Verandah, were completed in a record time and were inaugurated in December, 1999. Hon’ble Central Minister for Social Welfare & Empowerment, Smt. Menka Gandhi, Hon’ble Chief Minister Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal and Lala Lajpat Rai along with all the local officers were the eminent dignitaries, who graced the function with their presence. The growth since then is the self telling story.

To fulfill the main objectives of Bharat Vikas Parishad of SEWA and SANSKAR, today the Trust is running several projects, in addition to Viklang Sahayta.

Under Sewa: Viklang Sahayta, Savrojgar, Polyclinic, Polio Corrective Surgery Hospital and Mobile Dispensary for villages and slum areas etc.

Under Sanskar: A Library, Senior Citizen Sanskar Kendar, Laughing and Relaxation, Computer Training Centre and Mahila Silaai Training Kendar.

The success of all these projects lies in the untiring and continuous team efforts of all the Trustees and members of Bharat Vikas Parishad, Ludhiana and their unstinted support and Sewa Bhav.
